When it comes to organising your holiday it can be quite stressful. It always seems like there is a lot to plan and organise. With the use of the internet these days it makes it much easier when it comes to planning and organising your holiday, whether it be domestic or overseas.
I’ve put together a few tips to help you plan your next holiday with ease.
Organising your holiday……
When organising your holiday there are always a lot of things to consider.
What mode of transport will you use? Which type of accommodation will suit your needs? What attractions do you plan to visit? Maybe you require care for family pets while you are away? As well as budgeting for the big trip and packing.
When planning and researching my next trip, I like to use a display book to keep all my notes, ideas, prices and information all in one place. I refer to this as my Holiday Book. You can then add A4 paper pages or printouts to your Holiday Book to create individual pages allowing you to list things such as; your travel itinerary, all possible accommodation choices, flight options, car rental information, transfers and tourist destinations. This way you can easily compare what you have found and which option you wish to choose.
Give each page a heading, for example, ‘Flight Options’. Then you can record the airlines name and each airlines available flight dates and times, prices and flight numbers. From this you can choose which date, times and prices will suit you best and make your booking.
When searching online its common to go from site to site trying to find the best deal and its easy to forget what we have already seen. Writing it down as you go allows you to quickly compare information while you continue looking at what else is on offer.
As you begin to make bookings, you can print accommodation confirmations, flight itineraries and tour tickets and add them to your holiday book. That way everything remains in the one place and is easy to locate when needed.
Don’t forget to pack your Holiday Book……
I like to take my Holiday Book with me when I travel. Any pre-booking information gathered while organising your holiday can be removed and you can then add contact details for the pet sitter, house sitter or family members. All tour and attraction tickets that have been printed at home; flight itinerary and travel insurance details. Information relating to the address and contact details for accommodation as well as booking confirmations. Along with any other information pertaining to the trip.
There are plenty of great Apps you can utilise but I still like to have a hard copy. Smartphones and devices can have any number of unexpected mishaps such as breaking, dead batteries or getting lost or stolen. If you choose to go digital, I still recommend keeping a hard copy of all your holiday details just in case. It will simply limit any stressful situations should you lose your digital data.
It’s also a good idea to add information relating to any interesting land marks or places you may wish to visit and the location of restaurants or eateries within walking distance of your accommodation.
In addition, you can add copies of any important documents you may need with you when you travel, pharmacy prescriptions and passports.
Furthermore, while you are away, you can relax knowing you have everything on hand in your Holiday Book.
Happy Holidays!!!
Below I have provided a list of possible information pages to include in your Holiday Book to help you with organising your holiday.
I like to use an A4 20 page display book, as it is slim, lightweight, cheap to buy and you can add extra display pages if you need to. Most of all they can be reused for each holiday. They are available at most department stores and stationary outlets. Click here to see a product sample.
Another option is to use a plastic button wallet and simply place your loose pages inside. Click here to see a product sample.
